Shots

This will be where the girl will be stood. When the imagenery friend is looking in at her.

We would do an over shoulder shot of the imagenery friend looking in at the girl.

Shots

This will be the imagenery friends perspective when she comes in through the back door. We dont think we are going to have a shot from the imagenery girls perspective as it could confuse the audience as it could appear as someone just following her.

Shots

The close up of the knives is quite important as it is an indication to a murder. We also thought about having a point of view camera shot from the knives perspective. This would add to a range of imagenery shots.

Shots

This will be when the imagenery friend comes into the house we are going to have a low angle shot with the girl susie have he feet and ankles in the picture. Then we will have the imagenery friends feet, which we are going to muddy up and look horrible. They will come into the back of the shot so it shows distance between the girl and her imageneery friend.

Shots

This will show the first shot of in the kitchen . This will be a point of view shot . With showing the first front on shot of the imagenery girl in the window looking in.

Shots

We will have intense music leading up to this shot as in this shot we want to make the audience jump. We intend to do this by having the girls hand sharply coming out of the toilet holding onto the wall. We then will show the normal girl with schizophenia looking quite drained and abit more insane. We will do this with make up.

Shots

Inside the toliet showing her being sick. At a high angle shot.

Shots

We will be using a point of view shot as she leads her way to the down stairs toliet. This will only be shown once in the film opening. She will be going to the toilet to be sick. We will show this in the toliet as a high angle shot lookin down at the head in the toilet.

Shots

This will the the first view of inside the house for the audience. The hall way is going to be shown alot in the opening as she will be stubbleing through it and then we will see it again when the mum comes into the room.

Shots

This the Front door and the porch that she will be stubbling up to. Its a bonus that the door is red as it indicates death. I also think it will add to the video as it will add some colour . As we wanted to keep the effect quite dim and dark.

Shots

This is just before she comes into the house at this point she is really disorientated and goes to look behind her as if she thinks someone is there but infact its his schizophenia.

Shots

This will be a shot from behind the girl walking up to the house we will then start the noises which will represent her head going and her schizophenia coming through and talking over. The noises will only be very slight so not much talking as we dont want much dialogue.

Shots

This location is outside the front of Emmas house. This is going to be our first shot where the girl is walking upi to the house and first starts to feel her head going.

Costume Picture

This is the kind of costume we have been thinking about for the character of the imagenry friend. By using this sort of scary and ragged costume it allows the audience to feel the atmosphere we want to create. For example if we dresswed the imagenery freind in normal clothes. There would be nothing to create suspition. Also it would not match our theme of scary horror. Doing this it takes a normal everyday life disorder into alot more scary situation. If the imagereny friend wears this it singles here out from everyone else as this is not a normal way of dressing.

1. The action: identify the event your idea is based around; what actually happens (discovery of a body, an illicit meeting, a witness seeing a crime being committed, a criminal act taking place, a telephone call, a chase, a short journey etc)?
The girl has got schizophrenia and she has to control it by pills, which she goes to get but sees she has none left so this then means that she then can not control her imagenery friend, her imagenery friend then controls her and tells her to do these bad things . She then has a flash back of her holding a knife. This then links to the end scene of her holding the knife whilst looking at her mum. This indicates that she is going to kill her mother.
2. The theme(s): what should it make the audience think about or feel, what ‘issues’ will it raise (revenge, sexuality, voyeurism, stalking, obsession, greed etc)?
We want to make the audience feel on egde and want to keep watching the film. It may raise the issue of corcern for her mental disoder and if it is making her capable of killing her mum, what else she might be capable.
3. The narrative: how is it structured - classic narrative pattern or break with convention, real time or different time zones, flashbacks/forwards, dreams etc. Will there be dialogue? What about diegetic/ non-diegetic sound?
Ours is a classic pattern with a break of convention, we have used a flash back. We are also using non diagetic sound. There will only be abit of dialogue.
4. The character(s): who are they, identify their roles, what are their characteristics, including gender, appearance etc?

Susie: Hatty

She has schizophenia she will quite normal. She will then end looking stressed

Imagenery friend: She will be suspious and will look really scary
1. Is it practical?
I think ours will be easy to for us to film as we have the location in lutterworth so not far to travel. Also the actors are close friends and live near by. The only thing that might hold us back slightly is that we want ours to be in the night so any practical work that we might be set in a lesson we might be stuck with nothing to do. This means we would be wasting time. This also means that we would have to do it in our own time and take a camera out for a night.

2. Is it an idea that works to the strengths of the group?
I think we all add something to the group as emma is very artistic and has been able to show our idea down on paper. I think this is really important as you find when it comes to a practical idea its very hard to explain and to have someone in your group who can do this i think its a really advantage. I think rob is a motivator of the group especially when it came to the ideas. He had alot of ideas. Some that went on to a completely differernt genre this is good as it gave us range. Then my role came in when we had a lot of ideas i would simplify them down and see the bigger picture of whether we will be able to do certain camera shots, whether they will look tacky or not. Or even if it was possible at all as we dont have any money budget, so we were unable to do anything with big specail effects.
3. Will it show off the skills you have learnt so far on the course?
Yes we are including match on action, over the shouldre 180 degree rule and a range of different and imaginative shots.
4. Is it something you can reasonably shoot and edit in the time available?
Yes as our location is in lutterworth and so are our actors. We also have a Macs at school that are available in our lessons.
5. Can you get access/ permission to shoot in the chosen location at the chosen times?
Yes as it is emmas house we will be able to do it at any time.
6. Can you organise lighting to use in that location?
This shouldnt be to much of a problem as we are filming alot in emmas kitchen and there is alot of small lights scattereed around the room. This should there for allow us to create a dull effect to fit in well for the theme of the opening. If this does not work we will be able to use colour contrasts and colour effects to help create the atmorsphere.
7. Have you included dialogue? If so, will it work to shoot conversation in that location?

We decided to use only one bit of dialogue in ours, this is from the mother and she says "Darling whats wrong". Our reasons for doing this is because we wanted to sustain a constant atmosphere and tension throughtout the whole opening this allowed an element of secrecy in the opening. Which keeps the audience engaged.
8. Do you have guaranteed high quality reliable actors to play the characters?
I would say that they are quite reliable as they are both drama students and live near by they are also close friends so they are more likely to be commited.

This clip from hollyoaks shows newt and his imagereny friend eli. we thought that this idea would be a good twist to our film opening as it worked very well in hollyoaks. we aslo thought taht we would be able to do many different and experimental camera shots with this. But then at the same time you have to be careful with the camera shots so it is made clear to the audience that its an imagenerny friend and not just another person. We hope to achieve this by using proxemics between the girl and the imagenerey girl. Also by using a blur effect. In this clip at the stage were lauren newts friend has taken his pills and there is about three camera shots that show her to be quite disoreintated these are shown in a point of view shot. This helps the audience to see how she is feeling. We are hoping to do this in our film opening. We would show this when the girl can feel that her head is going and needs to take her pills. This will be at the start of the opening. I think a point of view shot is key in our opening as it is important that the audience know how the girl is feeling and what she can see. The difference with our film opening and how we are going to portray this imagenery friend is quite different to the way hollyoaks did. This is because we know that eli is newts imagenery friend because he has been to the doctors and they have told him he has got schizafrenier. But with ours we are not using dialogue so it is going to be harder to portray this without it looking like some one following or stalking a girl. This will have to purely be done through camera shots. We will show links like pills and a dizzy head. I think without the dialogue in hollyoaks you wouldnt have known eli was his imagenery friend as he i just shown like a normal person.

saw 3 anaylis

This opening scene of saw 3 really inspired me to do a scary theme for my opening scene. It starts with a shot of a torch which is for the set lighting and is used to set the scene. This is the only light used on the set. Infront of this light is a gun and a man on the floor struggerling and reaching for this gun. I think this is a real strong opening as it gets you straight into the action and instantly sets the atmosphere. This is shown at a low angle shot. They have done this so it can help the audience to feel the struggle that this man is feeling. Also with the audience being so close to the action it adds to the atmosphere of the uneasy and uncomfortableness. The lighting stays the same throughout the opening. The torch light creates shadows which emphasises that he is on his own as it gives off a clostrophobic feel. Its mainly dark then there is a slight light shone on key props that help the audience to get a better idea about whats going on. For example the light is shone on a chain that is attached to his ankle. The light is the shone on a saw which he is holding next to his foot which indicates that he is going to saw at his foot. to get out. There is many point of view shots in this as the man is holding a torch which is the only light, which means there will only be light where this man is looking. The man then turns around and finds another man dead on the floor with a trail of blood behind him and this other man foot detached from his body still held on by a chain. This then tells the living man and the audience that this is what this man is going to have to do to get out of this chain, to saw his foot off.

They have used non diagetic sound in this and it was continuely playing throughout the whole of the opening. I then notice the music got to a higher pitch when the man was about saw his foot off. This is to help bulid the suspence of the climax.

I thought it was really clever the way that with the lighting being very dark that the audience were still able to get a clear idea of what was going on in the scene. By shining the torch light on key props. This has inspired me to experiment with camera angles, and especially lighting.
